Chapter 19 - Male Reproductive System

The organs of the male reproductive system are mostly located outside the body. These external organs include the penis and testicles (testes and epididymus). Internal organs include the urethra, seminal vesicles, prostate gland, and vas deferens. Their functions include the production of sperm, delivery of sperm, and the production of male sex hormones.

Spermatozoa

Spermatozoa (sperm) are the male gametes.

Spermatogenesis

Spermatogenesis is the process by which haploid spermatozoa develop from germ cells in the seminiferous tubules of the testis.

Spermiogenesis is the final stage of spermatogenesis, during which the spermatids develop into mature spermatozoa.
